WHAT IS OUR MISSION?

Comenius School UK is a non-profit organization and a voluntary association. It was founded to support the education of Czech children living in the UK.

Education takes place in children´ s local schools - in the form of afternoon lessons or Tuesday and Saturday afternoon schools. We help children with the integration and with the completion of education in these areas: Czech language, Czech history, and Czech realia. It also helps them to improve their mother tongue, to increase their chances of finding employment in the Czech Republic or studying at Czech universities.

The teaching is lead by the interns from Erasmus+ Project. They are students or freshly graduated future teachers.

We have also prepared our own textbook, which includes topics from Czech language, History and Geography. We follow our textbook in the lessons, which are designed on several levels.

Czech school at the beginning

Comenius School in the UK started at the beginning of the school year 2016/2017. The official opening ceremony was held on September 15, 2016 in the presence of the professors from the University Jan Evangelista Purkyně (Pedagogical faculty) in Ústí nad Labem. The guest of this afternoon was Miss Jana Čechlovská from the embassy of the Czech Republic in London. Record of this opening can be found here.

Czech school at Lincoln Green

We run individual supplementary education for primary and secondary schools, during the afternoon lessons on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Comenius School UK in partnership Czech Teaching Universities had prepared special curriculum and teaching plan.

Tuesday and Saturday school is visited by pupils from four to fifteen years old. Every child has its own individual curriculum.

The school closely cooperates with parents on children´s education. The pupils regularly get homework. They prepare for the lessons at home with the help of printed materials, recommended activities and online exercises. One of the recommended programs is an interactive website “Hravé učení”.

Allerton high school

In Allerton High School we help pupils from Czech and Slovak communities. They get individual assistance during the lessons. We focus on transitions from primary schools and on pupils who have recently moved to the UK and whose English is not on the proper communication level.

Erasmus +

Comenius School UK involves students and graduetes from Czech Teaching Universities. The interns are financed from EU funds - project ERASMUS+. The intern can choose a length of the stay from 2 - 12 months.
